Exhibition Hall of Friendly Exchanges Between the PLA and Its Foreign Counterparts

Located in the central hall on the fourth floor of the exhibition building, the Exhibition of Friendly Exchanges Between the PLA and Its Foreign Counterparts occupies an area of nearly 900 square meters. The over 500 exhibits were selected from more than 3,000 gifts from foreign military exchanges. These delicate gifts not only witness the PLA’s friendship with foreign armies, but also crystallize other countries’ folk customs, craftsmanship and characteristics of military culture. The exhibition was open to the public on 21 October 1998 and removed in May 2012 when the reinforcement and renovation project of the building began.

The artistic patterns of the earth and doves of peace in the center of this exhibition hall highlight the theme of “peace and friendship”. The exhibits are arranged by continents and themes, highlighting the characteristics of gifts from different continents. The gifts to Mao Zedong, Deng Xiaoping and Jiang Zemin are the key parts of the exhibition. The exhibits are displayed in a well-designed disorder for better art effect, with those extraordinarily fine ones under spotlight. Army emblems and icons, models of heavy weaponry, as well as sabers, swords and pistols take up a large proportion of the gifts in military exchanges. As for the material of gifts, there are silverworks from Asia, glasswares from Europe and wood sculptures from Africa. Visitors may be unable to tear themselves away from so many superb artworks.
