Notice on Respecting Religious Faith Issued by the Fourth Front Army

The notice was issued by the Fourth Front Army in 1936 when they passed the northwest Sichuan during the Long March to promote their policy of respecting the religious faith of ethnic minorities living in the Tibetan area and protecting the Lama temples. It reads “The general headquarters of the Chinese Red Army announces that the Zha Bai Li Lama Temple fought the KMT troops along with the Red Army and should be protected. No troops shall intrude upon or harass the temple and those that do shall be seriously dealt with. Chen Changhao, General Commander. XX, 1936.”

It was transferred by the Sichuan Military Command to the Military Museum in 1959.
