Teng Daiyuan’s Seal Used in Xinjiang

 

Teng Daiyuan was born in Mayang, Hunan Province in 1904. He engaged in peasants’ movements in early years. In 1928, Teng led the Pingjiang Uprising and established the Fifth Corps of the Red Army. He was a co-founder of Hunan-Hebei-Jiangxi Revolutionary Base. Later, Teng worked as the Secretary of the Party Committee of the Liling County, the Secretary of the Special Party Committee of Hunan, the Party Representative of the Fifth Corps, the Political Commissar of the Third Corps and the Deputy Political Commissar of the First Front Army. He attended the Seventh Congress of theCommunist International in the Soviet Union in 1934 and learnt in Lenin College. In 1937, he came back to Xinjiang and aided the rest of the West Route Army to reach Tihwa (present-day Urumqi). Teng used this seal when he worked in Xinjiang in 1937.
Teng Daiyuan donated the seal to the Military Museum in 1959.
