Iron Anchor on Battleship Zhenyuan

Date: Modern Length: 4.15 meters Material: Iron
Zhenyuan was one of the ironclad battleships of the Beiyang Fleet of the Qing court. Built by Stettiner Vulcan AG, Germany, the ship arrived in China in 1885. During the First Sino-Japanese War of 1894, Zhenyuan was captured and put into Japanese service. It was later displayed in Ueno Park, Tokyo, as a prize of war. After China won the War of Resistance, Japan returned the iron anchor to China. The anchor is a witness to the humiliation China suffered, as well as to Chinese resistance against invasion and how the Chinese nation achieved revival.
