This is a bunch of altogether ten keys to the city gates of the Peking. Each key is attached with a small tag bearing a number and a place name. The ten keys are: No. 1, Xizhimen station; No. 2, North of Xizhi Platform; No. 3, Xizhiqian; No. 4, Xizhimen Platform; No. 5, no description; No. 6, Fuxingmen; No. 7, No. 8, no description; No. 9, Fuchengmen; No. 10, Xizhimen. Except for the No. 5, No. 7 and No. 8 which are of Chinese style, the remaining others are of western style, featuring the “Eagle” pattern on the front and the back and the mark “CHIEF.” The keys were handed over to the 41st army of the People’s Liberation Army by Fu Zuoyi, commander of the KMT garrison, which held great historical significance.
