In December 1944, the CPC Central Military Commission decided to form the Yan’an Artillery School based on the artillery regiment of the Eighth Route Army Headquarters, with Guo Huaruo as president (Zhu Rui as acting president) and Qiu Chuangcheng as political commissar. The Artillery School enrolled more than 1,000 students and divided them into three artillery groups, a mortar unit and an engineering unit, with a term of eight months. The Artillery School targeted company and platoon cadres and the training guideline was “focused on technology, supplemented by tactics, and serving wartime needs.” It was relocated to the northeast China and renamed the Artillery School of Northeast Self-governed Army of the People in 1945.
It was transferred from the Lanzhou Military Command to the Military Museum in 1959.
