In the hardest days during the War of Resistance, Japanese invaders mercilessly attacked the base areas. Under the CPC’s guidance, village militia joined hands. They smashed the enemy’s mopping-up operations by means of landmine, tunnel and sparrow warfare with their crude weapons. Numerous heroes emerged. Ma Yuzhang was elected Exemplary Militiaman in Jiaodong in 1945 and honored as “Expert on Explosive.” The medal was given to him by Jiaodong Military Command.
The medal was transferred to the Military Museum by Jinan Military Command in 1959.
