A Letter on the Escort Task Handover
On December 26, 2008, with the authorization of the United Nations and at the invitation of the Somali government, the first group of convoys of the Navy of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army, composed of the “Wuhan” missile destroyer, the “Haikou” missile destroyer and the “Weishanhu” comprehensive supply ship, set sail from Sanya military port in Hainan province, to the Gulf of Aden and the waters of Somalia to carry out escort tasks. On April 15, 2009, the first and second groups of convoys of the Chinese Navy held an escort task handover ceremony on the “Wuhan” ship. The commanders of the two sides respectively signed the task handover letter.
